Airfreight Service Update

Please be advised that airfreight schedules remain disrupted following the recent UK air traffic control system failure, with Heathrow (LHR) among the airports most severely affected. Although the technical issue has been resolved, airlines are still working through the resulting backlog, including aircraft and crew repositioning. This is continuing to cause flight delays, cancellations and cargo rollovers, with revised ETAs expected on affected shipments. The disruption has also had knock-on effects across other UK airports, including Gatwick, Birmingham, Manchester, London City, Luton and Stansted.

For South African importers, the impact may extend beyond the UK, as diverted flights and disrupted airline schedules can affect connecting cargo through European hubs such as Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Düsseldorf and Frankfurt. Cargo connecting through these hubs may therefore also experience flight rollovers, missed connections or revised ETAs.

SCT is monitoring affected shipments individually and will provide updated flight information and revised arrival dates as these become available from the airlines.
