Local Routes Face Potential Logistics Disruption

Please be advised that protest action is anticipated in KwaZulu-Natal over the coming days and may impact transport and logistics operations.
According to reports, the planned demonstrations are linked to concerns regarding the employment of foreign nationals and related labour issues. A march is scheduled for Thursday, 25 June, with expected activity in parts of the Durban and Hillcrest areas, which may result in traffic congestion, road closures, and delays to transport.
Industry sources have also highlighted an increased risk of disruptions along key freight corridors. Should protests escalate or routes become unsafe, trucking partners may temporarily suspend vehicle movements on affected roads to ensure the safety of drivers, vehicles, and cargo. Trucking companies are expected to hold back fleets from operating on routes where there is a credible risk of protest-related unrest. Potential impacts may include traffic congestion, route diversions resulting in extended transit times, reduced vehicle availability on affected routes, and disruptions to the normal movement of freight through the supply chain.
