Tariff Amendment - Schedule 2 Part 1 & Durban Port Update

Please take note of the below tariff amendment published by SARS which is issued retrospectively from 19 March 2026:
Amendment to Schedule 2 Part 1:
By the substitution of various items under item 215.02, in order to list the rebate items intended to be excluded from the applicable anti-dumping duties on I and H sections of iron or non-alloy steel, not further worked than hot rolled, hot drawn, or extruded (excluding H sections of a height greater than 200 mm) and other angles and shapes of iron or non-alloy steel, of a height of 80 mm or more not further worked than hot rolled, hot drawn, or extruded, classifiable in tariff subheadings 7216.32 and 7216.33 originating in or imported from the People’s Republic of China and the Kingdom of Thailand. Durban Port – Ongoing Backlog & ETA Changes
We would like to provide a brief update on the ongoing operational challenges at Durban Container Terminal (DGT) and the impact these are having on vessel schedules and delivery planning.
Durban has experienced significant congestion and backlogs following challenges with the recently implemented terminal booking system. This has resulted in vessel delays, changing berthing priorities, vessels bypassing Durban and returning at a later stage, and ETA changes of several days or, in some cases, weeks. Shipping lines are managing these changes on an ongoing basis, with vessel schedules and port rotations sometimes changing multiple times. We understand that these continual changes make it extremely difficult for importers to plan production and stock.
SCT is closely monitoring every shipment and actively managing these changes with the shipping lines and transporters. Where an ETA, routing or delivery plan changes, our team is updating the information and communicating the latest position to you as it becomes available. We acknowledge that the frequency of these changes can be frustrating and creates uncertainty for your business. Please be assured that our team is staying on top of the situation and doing everything possible to provide you with the most accurate and current information available, even when this changes several times.
